what happens to your data
screen
awan only looks at your screen while you hold the hotkey (or when you ask an agent to use your computer). it doesn't watch in the background.
storage
screenshots are never stored. they're sent to the model, answered, and dropped. we keep your account, usage counts, your awans' setup and what they need to remember.
processing
answers come from cloud ai models. your request goes through our own server to the provider (openai, anthropic or openrouter) and back. voices can come from elevenlabs.
deletion
delete your account from settings and we erase it and everything tied to it. or email [email protected] and we'll do it for you.
training
we don't train models on your data, and we only use providers whose api terms say they don't either.
background
no keystroke logging, no clipboard reading, no file scanning. the one exception: if you turn on morning suggestions, awan reads the connectors you've added, read-only, once a day. you can switch it off.
quitting
quit the app and nothing awan runs keeps going on your mac. routines only run while awan is open.
analytics
no ad trackers, and no third-party analytics or crash reporting in this beta. this website doesn't set cookies either.
certifications
no soc 2 or iso 27001. we're a small studio in malaysia, and we'll tell you straight when that changes.
